Diaz, no love to Rooney?? and Demichelis, when not injured, isn’t even the best centre back playing for Bayern. Van Buyten has been in better form all season.
J-Mo- I love that you put up who each person’s representing, it’s nice to see the clear team/country biases in some of the picks.
    My clear German bias…4-1-3-2
    -Buffon
    -Lahm-Per Mertesacker-Puyol-Evra
    -Essien
    -Robben-Fabregas-C. Ronaldo
    -Rooney-Messi

Kevin, I’d be more than happy to add you to the panel to represent Bayern if you’re interested. It means you have to get back to me with your answers that day preferably, but it’s only two debates a week so it’s not too demanding.

    what do you think?

Villa on the left with Rooney in the center Jmo? That’s interesting. What’s the reasoning behind it? I might switch them, but then again, I don’t know if Villa would even make it…I might try and find a more traditional winger.

John Terry turns about as slow as milk does. No way he’s one of the 2 best defenders in the world.

Terrry has a ferocity that is rivaled by very few, and because of that and his leadership I went with him.

Part of me would want to put Vidic or Pique, but I went with him. Lucio is just a a monster and a unique pick so I went with him. Essien is good enough to cover terry too.

Villa can play as a wing striker which is why I put him in on the left. I like rooney as a central player, he’s exponentially more effective there. Just watch last year’s CL final to see why.

    sorry i went there.

You’re not sorry lol. Our midfield lost that game for us last year, Rooney’s play didn’t have anything to do with it. It wouldn’t have mattered who played as the center forward.

probably true, like you said in the last question, strikers are only as good as the individuals who supply them.

Lahm? Please, he is as overrated as the day is long. For those of you who snubbed Maicon, I hope you watched the shift he put in yesterday against Chelsea, the man is a force.

hate to admit it, but Maicon was a monster yesterday.

I just couldn’t let our blaugrana hummingbird miss out in my world XI. What he can contribute all over the field, no one can do while maintaining defnesive discipline. He never STOPS.

Most of the wing backs mentioned here (Lahm, Alves, Maicon, Cole, Evra) play a very similar style. They all have the potential to advance into the offense third and contribute goals. Lahm shines the most when put on a team that gives him some defensive support, which allows him to move forward, like on Germany’s national team. It’s hard to rate him when only looking at Bayern games because he is simply left out there to hold a team together defensively that has no intention of playing defense. He is constantly the one responsible for cleaning up the mess of the no defense playing winger in front of him, whether it be Ribery or Robben, and his centre backs are either aggressive to the point of stupidity or players who have not yet been proven to play at a high level. Lahm proved himself as one of the world’s best at 22 in the last world cup, and he’s only grown since. He definitely plays better internationally, but for some reason that seems to be true of almost any German.

JMo and BLo, I really like your teams/formations. Diaz…well I’m not even going to go there. Cameron-I wanted so badly to put De Jong in, I respect that you did. If De Jong keeps up his form, he has the potential to be considered one the top as far as holding midfielders. He’s already the best in England behind Essien IMO.
